The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Sindh Police arrested two suspects during a joint operation in Karachi on Friday, with police alleging that the men were planning a terrorist activity ahead of Independence Day.

The suspects were arrested from Jhokio Goth in Gulshan-e-Maymar, according to police.
Police claimed that the suspects admitted during interrogation that they were planning a large-scale terrorist activity in Sindh on August 14, Pakistan’s Independence Day.
Malir District Police and the FIA carried out the operation following what police described as an anonymous tip.
SPP Malir Irfan Bahadur said the two suspects were allegedly associated with an anti-state group operating in Sindh.
According to police, investigators recovered two hand grenades from the suspects during the operation.
The suspects were subsequently taken into custody, while authorities launched a further investigation into the alleged plan, their affiliations and the intended target.
Police said further details would emerge as the investigation progresses.
The allegations against the arrested suspects had not been independently established at the time of reporting.
