Federal government’s budget allocation for Karachi: 2020- 2021

The federal government has allocated funds for numerous developmental schemes in Karachi in the budget 2020-21.

In Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), the government has allocated the largest sum of Rs3 billion for the Greenline Bus Rapid Transit System.

Rs350 million has been earmarked for the re-construction of Nishtar and Manghopir Roads and and Rs650 million for Manghopir Road which heads for Jam Chakro to Banaras.

The government has also set aside Rs500 million for construction of an interchange over the Malir Link Road to the M-9, while Rs44 million have been allocated for the road over Malir Bund from Dadabhoy Town/Expressway up to PNS Mehran.

Funds of Rs217 million have been allocated for reconstruction of roads, water and sewerage system in District East. For improvements of roads, water and sewerage facilities Rs62 million have been allocated for District Korangi, Rs 1.319 billion for District East, Rs 155 million for District West, Rs95 million fo District South and Rs 124 million for District Central.

A sum of Rs384 million has also been allocated for improvements in the fire fighting system of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation.

The government has also allocated Rs7.950 billion for the Green Line BRTS and intelligent transport system for the next financial year.
