Eid ul Adha will probably be celebrated on June 29 in Pakistan

As preparations for Eid ul Adha commence, the Climate Data Processing Centre has forecasted that the Zil-Hajj moon is expected to be sighted in Pakistan on June 19 (Monday). The Met Office has indicated that the moon will be born on June 18 at 9:37 pm and could be sighted on June 19.

Consequently, the first day of Zil-Hajj will be observed on June 20 (Tuesday), and Eid ul Adha will be celebrated on June 29 (Thursday).

To ensure smooth operations and address concerns regarding traffic congestion, unhygienic conditions, and security issues, the Sindh government has issued a notification listing eight authorised locations in Karachi where cattle markets will be set up. Section 144 has been imposed on unauthorized locations.

The authorised cattle market locations in Karachi are Taiser Town, Northern Bypass; Malir 15, Asoo Goth; Cattle Mandi Landhi; Rice Godown, Landhi near Baber Market; Hamdard University near Manghopir; Moach Goth, Baldia Town; cattle market permitted by station commander in the limits of Clifton Cantonment Board; and cattle market permitted by the president Karachi Cantonment Board in the limits of Karachi Cantonment Board.

The notification empowers SHOs to register cases against violators under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) for breaching Section 144.

Authorities have tightened security measures around the cattle market set up by the Malir Cantonment Board at the Northern Bypass, with the deployment of police and Rangers contingents and the establishment of security pickets and checkpoints.

Every year, ahead of Eid ul Adha, numerous authorized and unauthorized cattle markets are established across the country as people seek to purchase sacrificial animals for the occasion.
