ECP orders withdrawal of protocol, security, and privileges from former Sindh cabinet members

The Election Commission has issued a directive to the Chief Secretary of Sindh to promptly withdraw protocol, security, and other privileges from former members of the provincial cabinet and ex-officials. In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary and IG Sindh, Umar Hameed Khan, the Secretary of the Election Commission, raised concerns about the violation of electoral guidelines.

The letter highlighted that the Election Commission has observed instances where former provincial ministers and political appointees continue to enjoy protocol, security, and other privileges. The Election Commission had previously instructed the retrieval of official residences and vehicles from these individuals.

The directive explicitly states that the withdrawal of protocol, security, and privileges from former cabinet members should be executed without delay. Furthermore, the Secretary of the Election Commission has instructed the concerned authorities to submit an implementation report within three days, ensuring compliance with the electoral guidelines.
