Karachi has seen a sharp uptick in street crime in the past month. This was said in a report released by Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) on Thursday.
According to the report, 248 motorcycles were stolen from the city in June, while 443 were snatched.
Out of these, law enforcement agencies were only able to recover 227 motorcycles.
The report further said that 2,155 mobile phones were snatched in June and 129 cars were stolen. Furthermore, miscreants did away with 20 weapons in just one month.
Not only this, 50 murders, 2 extortion cases were reported in Karachi. However, surprisingly the report claims that no cases of kidnapping for ransom were registered with the police in the month of June.
