Covid-19: Karachi to get two new testing labs

National disaster Management Authority (NDMA0 is set to establish two new labs where Coronavirus tests will be carried out. The order was issued by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Sindh Governor Imran Ismail took to twitter on Sunday to announce, ““Under the instructions of PM Imran, NDMA will establish 2 COVID 19 testing labs at SUIT & JPMC. These labs will start within a week inshallah. More labs to be opened all over Sindh”.

Currently, there are 4 labs operating in Karachi which have the facilities to test coronavirus. These are: Aga Khan University Hospital Karachi, Civil Hospital Karachi, Ojha Institute Karachi and Indus Hospital.

Coronavirus testing has also been limited due to the limited number of testing kits available. Only patients with a recent travel history or contact with other positive coronavirus patient were being tested.

Total number of Coronavirus cases in Pakistan has now jumped to 1568 with 31 new cases emerging on 29th March.
