Caretaker Sindh Minister for Revenue, Industries & Commerce, Muhammad Younus Dagha, has unveiled plans for a one-window solution to expedite the resolution of complaints related to industries in the region. The announcement came during his visit to the SITE Association of Industry, where he addressed concerns and outlined key initiatives.
During the visit, Dagha also revealed the formation of a separate body dedicated to the maintenance of infrastructure in the SITE area. In response to numerous complaints of irregularities, he announced the digitalization of land records for SITE Limited, making them accessible on the website. The Master Plan will also be made available online.
Addressing the matter of an agreement between SITE Limited and SSWMB, the Minister assured that the newly formed body would address this issue. He clarified that the restructuring involves the distribution of responsibilities for SITE Limited, focusing solely on infrastructure maintenance in SITE Karachi. Furthermore, a separate account for SSWMB-related collections may be established to address recovery-related complaints.
SITE President, Muhammad Kamran Arbi, presented key challenges hindering industrial growth in the region. These included the need for reforms in SITE Limited, a mechanism for infrastructure maintenance, the functioning of the Oversight Committee for PSDP programs, the implementation of agreements, water supply to industries, the Combined Effluent Treatment Plant, gas pressure issues, and the non-implementation of a comprehensive one-window solution for provincial government departments.
Patron-in-Chief Zubair Motiwala congratulated Minister Younus Dagha on his portfolio and emphasized the importance of addressing non-tariff barriers affecting industrial operations. He highlighted the reluctance of foreign buyers to place orders due to concerns about timely delivery resulting from gas unavailability. Motiwala supported the formation of a separate body for infrastructure management and offered assistance in taking over the recycled water project at TP-I in SITE. He urged the prompt convening of a BOD meeting for SITE Limited to address critical agenda items.
