Canada has announced a significant reduction in visa processing time for Pakistani applicants wishing to visit the country. Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Sean Fraser shared the news on Twitter, stating that visas will now be processed within 60 days instead of the previous 802-day wait time. He also promised to further cut the processing time to just one month. Fraser explained that the delay in processing time was due to the backlog created during the pandemic when borders were closed, but Canada has significantly reduced the backlog from 55,000 to less than 15,000. The Canadian government has also invested in a new processing centre in Islamabad to improve processing and interview capacity in the Indo-Pak region. The move has been praised by Pakistani officials and the Pakistani community in Canada.
