The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced a major amnesty scheme to allow citizens to correct wrong information on CNICs without facing legal action.
According to NADRA, individuals who received CNICs with false or incorrect details – whether by mistake or intentionally – can now visit NADRA offices to fix their records safely and legally.
The NADRA amnesty scheme for CNIC correction is a one-time offer that encourages people to come forward and update their records, helping improve national data accuracy and public trust.
In an official notice, NADRA assured that those voluntarily reporting errors will receive legal protection. No action will be taken against them if they come forward during the drive.
This special initiative aims to strengthen the country’s identity database, which is crucial for national security, public services, and development planning, said a NADRA spokesperson.
NADRA also warned that citizens who ignore this opportunity and keep false details may face legal consequences, including penalties or action under national registration laws.
People have been urged to visit their nearest NADRA registration center to verify their identity information. Officers at the centers will guide citizens through the correction process.
The drive is part of NADRA’s broader strategy to ensure every citizen’s identity data is accurate, updated, and useful for government services and long-term planning. NADRA has launched awareness campaigns across the country, using print, digital, and social media to reach people in both cities and rural areas about this correction opportunity.
