ATC declares DHA Karachi policeman’s murderer ‘proclaimed offender’

The murderer of Shaheen Police Force Officer Abdul Rehman was deemed a “proclaimed offender” by the anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday because he had fled to Sweden.

Khurram Nisar’s defence in the murder case was heard in court.

The investigation officer informed the court that since the suspect had fled the country and could not be apprehended, the court had to declare him a “proclaimed offender.” The court stated, “Advertisements must be placed in Urdu, Sindhi, and English language newspapers,” after giving its approval.

The investigation officer must submit a report by January 16 per a court order.

An earlier incident involved a DHA resident who claimed to be the son of a former deputy commissioner who then killed a police officer and fled to Sweden.

According to police, Khurram Nisar came to Karachi from Sweden on November 5. He lives there with his wife and two children. DIG South Irfan Baloch told a local news channel that the cop accompanying Rehman recorded his statement, according to which they saw Nisar forcing a woman to sit in the car near Boat Basin.

The DIG said that Nisar’s home is in Karachi, near the crime scene in DHA Phase 5. After leaving the crime scene, he left the car and fled into another vehicle.

The SSP south told the media that the suspect would be brought back through Interpol.
