The All Pakistan CNG Association has threatened to shut CNG stations down if the government refuses to take back the exuberant increase in prices.

Chairperson All Pakistan CNG Association Shoaib Khan vocalised this threat on Tuesday after the government announced that the commodity’s price will be increased to Rs180 starting from September 1.

“The government should retract these prices immediately or we will be forced to shut the whole CNG sector down. The government will then be held responsible for the joblessness of 4 lac people associated with the sector,” Khan said.

The association demanded that the price of gas and taxes levied on the commodity be decreased immediately.

“We knew there is always a shortage of gas supply in the winter, but now there is also a shortage of it in the summer, which was previously unheard of,” Khan said.
