The provincial government signed an agreement with NADRA to integrate all educational boards across Sindh into the authority’s secure digital system.
The signing ceremony was attended by Provincial Minister for Universities Ismail Rahoo, NADRA’s director general and chairmen of the educational boards.
NADRA Integration to Help Prevent Fake Degrees
Speaking at the ceremony, Ismail Rahoo said the integration would help address problems such as fake educational certificates and proxy examinations, in which a person sits an examination on behalf of another candidate.
Under the arrangement, educational boards will be connected to NADRA’s digital system to strengthen the verification of students’ identities and academic records.
The initiative is also expected to improve transparency in examination-related processes and make it more difficult for individuals to misuse educational documents.
Educational Records to Be Digitised
The provincial minister said the integration would support the digitisation of educational records across Sindh.
A digital verification system could make it easier for relevant institutions and authorised users to authenticate academic qualifications, helping reduce reliance on manual verification procedures.
The initiative is also intended to improve the reliability of educational records and strengthen safeguards against fraudulent certificates.
Verified Degrees to Be Available Through Pak ID App
According to Ismail Rahoo, students’ verified educational degrees will also be available through NADRA’s Pak ID app.
The proposed facility could make it easier for students to access and present their verified academic credentials when required for employment, further education or other official purposes.
However, the precise procedure for accessing these records, the rollout schedule and the range of qualifications that will initially be available were not specified in the information provided.
NADRA to Provide Integration Free of Charge
NADRA’s director general said the authority would provide the integration facility to all educational boards free of charge.
The arrangement is expected to connect the boards to NADRA’s secure digital infrastructure without charging them for the integration facility itself.
The agreement marks a step towards greater digital coordination between educational institutions and the national identity database.
What the Agreement Means for Students
Linking educational boards with NADRA could help make academic verification more efficient and improve confidence in the authenticity of degrees and certificates issued in Sindh.
For students, the planned availability of verified qualifications through the Pak ID app could simplify access to academic records. For employers and educational institutions, stronger digital verification could help reduce the risk of accepting fraudulent credentials.
The effectiveness of the initiative will depend on its implementation, the accuracy of digitised records and the procedures established for accessing and verifying students’ information.
