According to official documents, American tech giant Google has registered as a company with Pakistan’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SECP).
The tech giant has registered itself with the SECP because social media companies were required to establish offices in the nation under the “Removal and Blocking of Unlawful Online Content (Procedure, Oversight and Safeguards) Rules, 2021.”

Following the registration of the American multinational technology company, other social media platforms will also open offices in Pakistan, according to Syed Aminul Haque, minister of information technology and telecommunication, in a statement to Geo News.
“TikTok will open an office in Pakistan soon. Companies are still hesitant because of mistrust and inconsistent policies, he claimed, despite his ministry’s assurances that it will support foreign businesses fully.
According to Pakistan’s government’s social media regulations, companies are now required to register, and Google did so in this case.
If Google’s server is constructed in Pakistan, data will be secure. Even today, all businesses, including social media platforms, store their data outside of Pakistan.
Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari went to the Asia-Pacific headquarters of Facebook’s parent company, Meta, in Singapore earlier today.
During his visit, Bilawal emphasised the successes and enormous potential of Pakistan’s IT sector. He expressed a strong desire for the social media behemoth and to collaborate more closely.
