According to police, Dr Akash was shot dead during a robbery in Karachi’s Frere area after resisting an attempt by the suspects to snatch cash from him. Investigators said efforts are underway to arrest the remaining members of the alleged gang.
Police claimed the group was led by Aslam, alias “Baba,” a resident of Quaidabad. Investigators alleged that Aslam supervised the operation while travelling in a car with other accomplices, including a woman, and that the vehicle was used to follow Dr Akash’s car before the robbery.

During interrogation, police said the suspects disclosed that the stolen cash was divided among the gang immediately after the incident. One suspect allegedly received Rs125,000 and transferred the entire amount online to his brother, Kishore, in his native village.
Investigators further claimed that suspect Ram Chand told police he first met Aslam in Landhi Jail in 2021, where the two became acquainted. According to police, the alleged gang was formed during their time in prison.
Police said Ram Chand allegedly received Rs70,000 from the robbery proceeds and used Rs30,000 to pay his landlord. He is a resident of Quaidabad and lives as a tenant in a house owned by a man identified as Farman.
