The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a heatwave alert for Karachi and other parts of Sindh, warning that heatwave conditions will continue as temperatures remain significantly above normal across the province in the coming days.

According to the latest forecast, heatwave conditions are expected to prevail across most parts of Sindh until June 12, with temperatures remaining 4–6°C above normal in several districts.

Karachi is also expected to experience very hot and humid conditions, with maximum temperatures reaching up to 42°C during the forecast period.

Karachi Weather on Wednesday, June 10

Karachi remained hot and humid on Wednesday, with maximum temperatures ranging between 36–38°C and minimum temperatures around 30°C.

Morning humidity stood high at 79 per cent, while evening levels ranged between 55–65 per cent. Winds blew from a west to southwesterly direction.

Karachi Weather on Thursday, June 11

Weather conditions are forecast to intensify on Thursday, with very hot and humid conditions prevailing across the city.

Maximum temperatures are expected to rise sharply to 40–42°C, while minimum temperatures will range between 29–31°C. Morning humidity is likely to remain between 70–80 per cent, with evening humidity easing slightly to 50–60 per cent. Winds will continue to blow from the west to southwest.

Karachi Weather on Friday, June 12

Friday is expected to remain very hot and humid, although temperatures may ease slightly compared to Thursday.

The PMD has forecast maximum temperatures between 37–39°C, while minimum temperatures are expected to stay between 29–31°C.

Morning humidity is likely to remain between 70–80 per cent, while evening humidity may range between 55–65 per cent. Winds will continue from a west to southwesterly direction.

Heatwave conditions continue across Sindh

The PMD has warned that temperatures across many districts of Sindh are likely to remain 4–6°C above normal during the ongoing heatwave spell.

Extreme temperatures of 48–51°C are expected in Sukkur, Shikarpur, Qambar Shahdadkot, Jacobabad, Larkana, Mohenjo Daro, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Ghotki, Khairpur and Naushahro Feroze districts.

Meanwhile, temperatures between 42–45°C are likely in Hyderabad, Badin, Matiari, Tando Muhammad Khan, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Jamshoro and Sanghar districts.

The PMD has also forecast that Karachi’s maximum temperature could remain between 39–42°C until June 12, with high humidity levels likely to increase the intensity of the heat.

Dust storms possible in some areas

The weather department has warned that intense heating may trigger isolated dust storms in plain areas of the province during the forecast period.

These dust storms could temporarily reduce visibility and create difficulties for commuters in affected areas.

Public advised to take precautions

The PMD has urged the public, particularly children, women and senior citizens, to exercise caution during the heatwave.

Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, stay hydrated and reduce outdoor activities during peak daytime hours.

Farmers urged to protect crops and livestock

Farmers have been advised to plan agricultural activities according to weather conditions and ensure adequate protection for livestock during the ongoing heatwave.

Proper water supply and shaded shelter for animals are strongly recommended.

Electricity demand likely to increase

The PMD noted that electricity demand and consumption may rise during the forecast period due to the prolonged hot weather.

Residents are encouraged to use electricity responsibly to help manage increased demand.

Water conservation advised

With temperatures soaring across the province, authorities have requested the public to use water judiciously and avoid unnecessary wastage.
