Pakistan’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved a proposal to export donkey meat and hides from the Gwadar Donkey Slaughter House.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, based on a summary submitted by the Ministry of National Food Security and Research.

Officials said the approval allows the disposal and export of existing stock under established regulatory frameworks.
According to the official statement, the move aims to manage current inventory while ensuring exports follow proper health, safety, and international trade protocols.

Authorities did not disclose specific commercial details, including export destinations or expected revenue.
The plan focuses on structured processing and regulated export channels, particularly for by-products such as hides.
Industry observers note that donkey meat is primarily exported to certain international markets where there is established demand, especially in East Asia.

The Gwadar facility is expected to play a central role due to its strategic location near the Gwadar Port, which offers direct access to international shipping routes.
The ECC meeting covered multiple economic matters, with this decision highlighting the government’s approach to utilizing underused resources and improving export management.
