The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has declared unauthorized clinical practice by Pharmacists, Psychologists, Dental Technicians illegal, raising alarm over the growing trend of unscientific medical practices in Pakistan.

According to local media reports, the council, in a letter to the Ministry of Health, stated that clinical activities carried out by pharmacists, psychologists, and dental technicians are unlawful, noting that such practices are beyond their defined professional scope.
The PMDC warned that the rise in unregulated medical practices could contribute to the spread of serious diseases, including HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis.

According to the council, diagnosis, prescription of medicines, and treatment are exclusively the responsibility of qualified and licensed doctors and dentists. It reiterated that only PMDC-registered practitioners are authorized to carry out allopathic treatment.
The council further clarified that allied health professionals are not permitted to prescribe medication, terming such unauthorized clinical practices a serious threat to human life.
