Senior Minister of Sindh has announced that the Karimabad Underpass in Karachi will be soft-launched on April 30, aiming to ease traffic congestion for the commuters.

The minister, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, made the announcement during a surprise visit to the project site, where he reviewed ongoing construction work and assessed progress ahead of its expected opening.

Senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary Dr Waseem Shamshad, Special Secretary Local Government (Technical) Azhar Shah, and Director General of the Karachi Development Authority Asif Jan Siddiqui, were present during the inspection.

During the briefing, officials informed the minister about the pace and current status of construction work on the underpass project.

Shah directed authorities to speed up the remaining work and ensure timely completion to meet the announced deadline.

“The underpass is scheduled for a soft launch on April 30,” Shah announced in his social media post.

The minister expressed optimism that the underpass will soon be opened for public use after the soft launch, providing much-needed relief to daily commuters.

He said the project is part of the government’s broader efforts to improve urban infrastructure and traffic management in Karachi.

Shah stated that the Pakistan Peoples Party government remains committed to delivering public facilities and easing transportation challenges.

Once operational, the Karimabad Underpass is expected to significantly improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in the surrounding areas, he concluded.
