Why Petrol Prices Increased

Petroleum prices in Pakistan are reviewed every fortnight. The government adjusts prices based on international oil market trends, exchange rate fluctuations, tax policies and regional tension. OGRA reviews the data and submits its recommendations to the government for final approval.

An increase in global crude oil prices and changes in import costs are often key reasons behind such adjustments.

Impact on Public

The rise in petrol and diesel prices is likely to increase transportation costs across the country. Diesel is widely used in public transport, agriculture, and goods transportation, which may lead to higher prices of essential commodities.

Consumers are advised to check updated fuel rates before refueling from March 1.
