During the debate, lawmakers from different parties shared their views on the proposal. However, the discussion reportedly turned light-hearted at certain points, and the resolution was ultimately rejected with laughter in the assembly.
Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar responded to the proposal by stating that imposing a blanket ban on liquor shops would affect various segments of society.
He explained that the government could not support the resolution because existing laws already regulate alcohol sales under specific conditions.

Officials have previously maintained that any change in policy would require careful consideration of social, legal, and economic implications.
The Sindh Assembly session continued with other agenda items following the rejection of the proposal.
