Water supply in Karachi will be partially disrupted due to annual maintenance work at the Pipri Pumping Station, officials said on Saturday.

According to details, K-Electric has started scheduled maintenance work at the Pipri Pumping Station, during which all power feeders supplying the water facility have been shut down.

A spokesperson for K-Electric said the shutdown will last for approximately eight and a half hours, affecting water pumping operations during this period.

As a result, the city is expected to face a temporary shortfall of around 48 million gallons of water.

Karachi normally receives about 650 million gallons of water daily; however, despite the disruption, supply of approximately 602 million gallons will continue.

Officials said water supply will be partially affected in several areas, including Landhi, Korangi, Shah Faisal, Malir, Defence, and Qayyumabad.

In addition, the Landhi and Sherpao hydrants will also remain closed during the maintenance work.

K-Electric has advised residents in the affected areas to use water sparingly during the power shutdown and maintenance period to minimise inconvenience.
