Dengue cases on the rise in Sindh

Dengue cases increased across Sindh following the monsoon season, with the provincial health department reporting 34 new cases on Friday.

According to health department data, a total of 552 dengue cases had been reported across Pakistan in October 2021.

Karachi recorded the highest number of dengue infections in Sindh, with 303 cases reported during the month.

Matiari ranked second with 153 dengue cases, while Hyderabad reported 39 infections.

Tharparkar recorded 35 cases, according to the health department data.

Meanwhile, Mirpur Khas reported 11 dengue cases in October.

Health authorities have repeatedly warned that the post-monsoon period can increase the risk of dengue transmission due to favourable conditions for mosquito breeding.

Citizens have been advised to take precautionary measures, including eliminating stagnant water around homes and workplaces and protecting themselves from mosquito bites.
