The announcement followed a meeting chaired by association president Nabeel Mehmood Tariq, during which transporters urged federal and provincial authorities to approve their charter of demands before the deadline.

In a statement issued after the meeting, the association demanded the immediate release of containers and vehicles allegedly detained during protests and sit-ins.

Transporters also called for compensation of Rs20,000 to Rs35,000 for affected vehicle owners.

The association further urged authorities to stop what it described as unnecessary fines and harassment of vehicles stopped on roads over sales tax invoices.

Transport leaders also called for an immediate and substantial reduction in diesel prices, citing rising operating costs across the country.

They said higher fuel expenses and other operational challenges were placing additional pressure on the goods transport sector.

The association maintained that addressing these concerns was necessary to ease the financial burden on transport operators and support the movement of commercial goods.

According to the association, federal and provincial governments have failed to fulfil commitments made during previous strikes and negotiations.

Transport leaders said the lack of progress had pushed the industry into a severe crisis and called for immediate action on their demands.

They warned that if the government did not address their concerns before October 10, goods transport services across the country would be brought to a complete halt.

A nationwide strike could disrupt the movement of commercial goods and affect supply chains, depending on its duration and the extent of participation.

The government had not been quoted in the statement responding to the association’s latest demands.
