Sindh MPA Sumeta Afzal Syed strongly condemned the newly released Indian film Dhurandhar for misusing images of former Prime Minister Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and portraying Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) as ‘sympathetic to terrorist groups’ in Karachi.
Sindh government spokesperson in a post on X, criticized the scene where the image of former PM used in the background and wrote, “The newly released Indian film Dhurandhar has unlawfully used images of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and disgracefully attempted to portray the PPP as sympathetic to terrorists.”

She further stressed that the PPP has always been at the forefront in fighting terrorism and remains committed to standing against extremism.
“The PPP has been a frontline victim of terrorism and has always stood – and will always stand – as the strongest force against extremism,” she concluded.
However, some India-based users posted in support of the film, criticizing the late PPP chairman Benazir Bhutto and falsely accusing her of supporting extreme elements in Karachi.

The controversy arises as India released another propaganda-filled film, Dhurandhar, which claims to be “inspired by true events” but has drawn criticism in Pakistan for presenting a one-sided narrative.

The movie reportedly portrays Karachi’s Lyari as a hub of gang war and cross-border terrorism, while depicting Pakistani military and intelligence figures in a negative light.
The film features Bollywood stars Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, and Arjun Rampal.
Other characters include R. Madhavan as Ajay Sanyal, head of India’s R&AW; Akshaye Khanna as Rehman Dakait, a criminal; and Sanjay Dutt as SP Chaudhry Aslam Khan Swati.

Ranveer Singh appears as an undercover Indian agent inspired by Major Mohit Sharma.
The trailer briefly touches on Pakistan’s political history, featuring Benazir Bhutto’s photograph in a rally, implying her support for Rehman Dakait.
Observers in Pakistan have criticized the film for exaggerating India’s successes while downplaying its military setbacks.
Analysts warn that movies like Dhurandhar oversimplify complex geopolitical and historical events, turning them into entertainment while spreading a biased narrative.
Critics argue that such portrayals risk deepening misunderstandings and escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
