Sindh traders Alliance announced to open all markets from 14th April onwards. Earlier traders Corporation had wanted to start operating from the 6th of April. However, Alliance Traders speaker Sheikh Habib has said in a statement to local news media that they have decided to co-operate with the government and open markets from the 14th of April instead.
Speaking on a local news channel, Atiq Mir stated that they were aware of the severity of the crisis and wanted to co-operate with the government.
On 2nd April, All Karachi Tajir Ittehad chairman Atiq Mir had said that total lockdown was causing immense losses to the traders.
Soon after this announcement, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah held a meeting to discuss methods of containing the virus. He issued orders to draft standard operating procedures for businesses and markets which have been allowed to restart so they may operate safely.
The official has instructed to base SOPs on the opinions of Healthcare workers while keeping principles of labour and industries in mind.
As per the decisions taken under Prime Minister Imran Khan the lockdown which was to last till 6th of April is now extended till the 14th of April due to the spread of Corona virus.
