On the International Day of Older Persons, the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) announced special facilities for senior citizens in Pakistan, aiming to make identity services faster, easier, and more accessible.
NADRA, responsible for issuing computerized identity cards and legal identity documents in Pakistan and abroad, highlighted measures ensuring senior citizens face fewer challenges in obtaining services at registration centers nationwide.
According to NADRA, wheelchairs are available at all centers for elderly visitors.
Moreover, senior citizens receive priority service, allowing them to bypass long queues after collecting a token for identity documents.
Previously, citizens received lifetime-valid identity cards at sixty, however, NADRA has revised the rule, now granting lifetime-valid CNICs at fifty-five years of age, making the process more convenient and accessible.

To assist those unable to travel due to health conditions, NADRA provides home-visit services. Representatives visit senior citizens’ residences to process identity documents without requiring visits to physical registration centers.
NADRA also urged senior citizens to use the Pak ID mobile app. Through this service, they can replace lost cards, renew CNICs, or even generate family registration certificates from home.
Additionally, the app now features an appointment booking option, reducing waiting times for those who prefer visiting NADRA centers physically while still benefiting from a streamlined process.
In situations where fingerprint recognition fails at centers or through the app, NADRA has introduced identity verification via facial recognition, ensuring uninterrupted access to essential documentation for senior citizens.
NADRA also announced plans to launch a new digital service soon. Pensioners will be able to submit “Proof of Life” electronically using the Pak ID mobile app for convenience.
