Pakistan is ready to repatriate its stranded nationals from Monday, said the Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar in a press conference on Sunday.
18 flights are set to operate in bringing the overseas Pakistani passengers from different countries, who are suffering abroad due to the halted airlines operation.
People are suffering because of an unprecedented situation of Covid-19 which has brought the airlines at standstill and the international airlines are cancelling the bookings of passengers as the new Covid waves emerges, said the Federal Minister.
Thousands of Pakistanis are stuck abroad as their bookings are cancelled and are unable to get back to their homeland. They will be repatriated on the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan, informed the Aviation Ministry.
Some airlines are involved in overbooking and have been issued show cause notices, said Sarwar.
Earlier in June, the UAE has also suspended and banned the airline operation for some countries including Pakistan, which was later further extended till July. However, Cargo and flights for goods and services are exempted from the ban.
In a new issued Notice to Airman (NOTAM) by The UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), flights from 14 countries including Pakistan will be suspended till July 21.
