The Karachi water shortage has intensified as repeated power outages and cable faults by K-Electric (KE) have severely disrupted the city’s water supply, according to the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) spokesperson.

KWSC officials confirmed that major pumping stations, including Dhabeji, Pipri, and Hub, have been hit by consistent power failures.

These technical issues have caused significant operational delays, impacting the distribution of water throughout the city, the statement said.

The disruption has created a shortfall of nearly 200 million gallons of water, reducing supply to densely populated areas and industrial zones that rely on regular pumping schedules for daily operations.

According to KWSC officials, the electricity failures not only halted pumping operations but also interrupted supply from key feeders. These failures have further compounded the city’s long-standing water distribution problems.

Residents have expressed frustration, demanding immediate action from both KWSC and K-Electric (KE) to stabilize the supply system. Civic groups have also called for investment in backup power solutions for essential infrastructure.
