The Sindh Education Board has announced new subject groups for matric students moving beyond the traditional science and arts options.
Officials explained that the new system is aligned with international education standards. Students will now have broader choices, allowing them to pursue subjects that suit their interests and career aspirations.
The board has approved four new groups:
- Computer Science
- Health Science
- Agricultural Science
- Fashion Designing
Each group combines compulsory subjects with specialized fields to prepare students for future professions.
Students choosing Matric Computer Science will study Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, Entrepreneurship, and Information Technology, alongside compulsory subjects.

The Matric Health Science group is intended for students aiming for medical fields. It includes Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Health Sciences, in addition to the compulsory subjects set by the board.
For those interested in farming and life sciences, the Matric Agricultural Science group offers Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. Officials said this track supports Pakistan’s agricultural economy and rural development.
The Matric Fashion Designing group introduces creativity-based education. Students will study General Science, Computer Science, Entrepreneurship, Communication Skills, Personal Grooming, and Fashion Designing, providing opportunities in the growing design and textile industry.
Education experts welcomed the change, saying the Sindh matric new subject groups expand learning opportunities. Students will no longer be confined to two traditional streams, instead exploring globally relevant disciplines.
