The Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) has sealed 10 unlicensed “beauty clinics” in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) as part of its ongoing crackdown on illegal cosmetic treatment centers.
According to SHCC officials, the clinics were performing sensitive procedures such as Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy and mesotherapy without qualified dermatologists. One large facility on Khayaban-e-Ittehad, previously sealed, was found operating again after its management broke official locks. The clinic was shut down for a second time, and staff and clients were evacuated.
According to officials, In DHA Phase VII, a beauty salon was discovered offering PRP services through untrained staff. In Phase II, a clinic run by a BA Sociology degree-holder had also resumed operations despite earlier closure orders. The SHCC had directed the owner to remove medical equipment and vacate the premises a month ago.
Another Aesthetic facility in Badar Commercial, Phase V, was managed by a midwife and sealed. Another Clinic, a physiotherapist was found conducting PRP treatments. Both centers, along with another run by unqualified staff, were immediately closed.
As per authorities, The operation was led by SHCC Assistant Director Anti-Quackery Karachi Dr Razia, alongside Deputy Director Ahmar Abbas Saldera and Assistant Directors Moez Qureshi and Farheen Lashari.
The SHCC alleged that some registered doctors were aiding these illegal operations by allowing the misuse of their credentials. The commission vowed to continue strict enforcement against all violators to protect public health.
