Karachi’s higher secondary education board has once again failed to enforce its college admission policy. Despite the deadline passing, over 90pc of first-year intermediate students have not submitted their admission forms, as reported by local media.
Out of about 98,000 students, only 7,000 have completed the process. Sindh’s Director General of Colleges, Professor Dr. Naveed Rab Siddiqui, confirmed that nearly 91,000 students opted out due to serious issues with the system.
Many students claim they qualified on merit but did not get seats at their preferred colleges. Thousands are waiting for a revision or relaxation of the merit list so they can file claim forms and secure seats at desired institutions
However, Dr. Siddiqui made it clear, there will be no changes to the merit list this year. He urged students and parents to proceed with the admissions at the assigned colleges. “The allocated college is final, and students must complete the admission process there,” he said.
In previous years, authorities did revise the merit list, but that option is no longer available. The board now considers the current merit list as final and non-negotiable.
