After nearly 10 hours of repair work by K-Electric, the power cable fault was fixed, and water supply to Karachi was successfully restored.
Earlier on Sunday morning, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) reported that a power cable fault at the Gharo pumping station and filter plant had disrupted water supply to several parts of the city.
The fault occurred at 10:35 am, halting operations at the Gharo station, which provides 30 million gallons daily (MGD) to the city.
KWSC confirmed that areas including Port Qasim, Bin Qasim Town, Shah Faisal Town, PNS Mehran, PAF Base Faisal, and Karsaz were expected to face water shortages.
KWSC officials stated they remained in constant contact with K-Electric, which supplies power to the pumping station. After urgent efforts, K-Electric restored power by 8:20pm, and water supply from Gharo resumed.
