  • India claims 400 Pakistani drones crossed border overnight

India has accused Pakistan of launching up to 400 drones overnight targeting 36 military sites across the western border, a claim strongly denied by Islamabad.

At a Friday press briefing, Indian military official Vyomika Singh said Pakistan attempted drone intrusions “from Leh to Sir Creek” and violated Indian airspace at multiple points along the Line of Control and international border.

Singh alleged the Pakistani drones aimed to strike Indian military infrastructure.

She stated that Indian forces shot down “a number” of drones and responded with counterattacks, including drone strikes on four Pakistani air defense sites.

Meanwhile, a senior Pakistani government source told CNN that Pakistan “had not yet used any of its drones,” although they acknowledged ongoing cross-border shelling. “Pakistan denies the claim of launching any drone strikes against India.”

  • Pakistan holds fire as allies push for diplomacy

Pakistan does not plan to respond to India’s attacks until its allies try to ease tensions through diplomacy, a senior Pakistani government source told CNN.

According to CNN, Pakistan is “giving space for diplomacy” as the United States, Saudi Arabia, and others speak with both sides to de-escalate the crisis.

CNN while quoting the source reported that Pakistan had denied to launch any strikes on India, after Indian officials earlier claimed that Pakistan fired missiles and drones at military targets in India and Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK).

Pakistan’s military dismissed India’s claims, saying they were exaggerated. “It’s such a fantastic and cooked-up story. You can just laugh about it,” said Pakistan Army spokesperson Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry.

“Pakistan has not fired missiles or sent drones into India yet,” the government source repeated to CNN.

Meanwhile, explosions were reported in Jammu city and Pathankot, Indian-administered areas. Indian officials said air defense systems were activated in response.

  • PSL moved to UAE

Pakistan’s premier T20 cricket league, the Pakistan Super League (PSL), will be relocated to the United Arab Emirates following Indian drone attacks on Pakistani territory, officials confirmed Friday.

The decision comes after a drone reportedly reached the vicinity of Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Thursday morning. Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan’s military “neutralised” 28 Indian drones, including the one near the stadium.

Dar described the drone incident as “a deliberate attempt to target domestic and foreign cricket players.” He added that national security concerns required immediate measures to protect athletes and spectators.

In an official statement, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced: “The remaining matches of the Pakistan Super League have been shifted to the UAE. A revised schedule will be issued soon.”

The PSL relocation follows the suspension of the Indian Premier League (IPL) earlier this week, signaling how rising India-Pakistan tensions are affecting major cricket events in both countries.

  • IPL suspended one week amid rising India-Pakistan tensions

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been suspended for one week due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Friday.

The IPL, which began its 2025 season on March 22, is the world’s richest cricket league and was valued at $12 billion last year. The tournament was scheduled to conclude on May 25.

The BCCI cited concerns from stakeholders, including players, sponsors, broadcasters, and fans, as reasons for the pause. In a statement, the board said: “While cricket remains a national passion, there is nothing greater than the nation—its sovereignty, integrity, and security.”

The governing body also reaffirmed its support for all efforts that protect India’s safety and interests.

The IPL suspension is the latest disruption to cricket caused by the ongoing conflict. On Thursday, a match in Dharamshala was halted due to nearby military activity. Meanwhile, across the border, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced it will shift all remaining Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches to the UAE.

  • India launches more drone attacks

India continued drone attacks on Pakistan early Friday morning, a senior Pakistani government source confirmed, as reported by CNN.

The source said at least one drone was shot down, though the full impact remains unclear.

The two nuclear-armed neighbors have blamed each other for cross-border strikes since tensions escalated on Wednesday. India’s army claimed it repelled multiple drone attacks and other aerial threats overnight from Pakistan.

In a statement, Indian forces warned they would respond “with force” to “all nefarious designs.”

Despite rising tensions, the Pakistani official said earlier that Pakistan had not yet launched any strikes and was “giving space for diplomacy” in hopes of avoiding further escalation.

  • Here’s what to know:

    • How it began: India launched military strikes on Wednesday, targeting what it claimed were “terrorist infrastructure” sites in Pakistan. The attack was in response to a recent massacre of civilians in Indian-administered Kashmir, which India blames on Pakistan—a charge Islamabad denies. Pakistan vowed a strong retaliation.
    • Jets downed: A senior U.S. official confirmed that Pakistani forces shot down at least one Indian jet during the cross-border strikes. Pakistan claims to have downed five Indian Air Force aircraft, including three Rafale jets. India has yet to issue a formal response to these claims.
    • Border clashes intensify: India accused Pakistan of launching multiple attacks along the western border and violating the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC). India’s military warned of forceful retaliation.
    • Casualties and drone warfare: Pakistan’s military reported killing 40 to 50 Indian soldiers along the LoC and claimed to have shot down 29 Indian drones across the country, from Rawalpindi to Karachi. India, in turn, said it intercepted Pakistani missiles aimed at Kashmir and Punjab—claims that Islamabad denies.
    • Panic on both sides: Explosions rocked Jammu city and Uri in Indian-administered Kashmir, triggering blackouts and panic. Police in India’s Pathankot also reported blasts. Civilians have been fleeing affected areas, with 16 Indian deaths confirmed due to Pakistani shelling. Residents near the border, including in Amritsar, have been ordered to stay indoors.
    • Travel advisory: Indian airlines have urged passengers to arrive early at airports after the Civil Aviation Security Bureau ordered heightened security.
    • Corporate misstep: Reliance Industries withdrew a controversial trademark application for “Operation Sindoor,” citing it was mistakenly filed by a junior staffer.
