As tensions rise along the Pakistan-India border, the emergency services have shared important safety instructions for citizens in case of war, bombing, or shelling.
People should stay alert and follow clear steps to protect themselves and their families. The guidelines are meant to reduce panic and save lives if conflict breaks out.
People are advised to keep their mobile phones charged and ensure they have enough call and internet balance. Families should make WhatsApp groups to stay connected and share updates.
In case of an airstrike or shelling, residents should immediately take shelter in a nearby bunker or basement. If none is available, they should stay indoors under a strong roof, away from windows and doors.
Those caught outside are told to lie face down, cover their mouths with both hands, and protect their ribs with their elbows.
Authorities also recommend keeping a stock of clean water, dry food, and first aid supplies. Motorcycles or cars should always have enough petrol for emergencies.
Do not panic or run during shelling.
Citizens are also asked to help children, women, the elderly, and injured people, and to avoid spreading rumors or false news.
Key emergency numbers should be saved on mobile phones:
