The city is bracing for a significant rise in temperature from April 19, with forecasts suggesting the mercury may climb above 40°C.
Meteorological analyst Jawad Memon said the intensity of heat is likely to increase in Karachi around April 19 or 20, with hot and dry weather expected to grip the city.
The weather expert added that Sindh, including Karachi, could receive higher-than-usual rainfall during the upcoming monsoon season. However, he stressed that this is a long-term forecast and subject to change.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PDM) has predicted hot and humid weather in Karachi over the next 24 hours, with the possibility of strong intermittent winds.
According to the department, the city’s minimum temperature in the past 24 hours was recorded at 26.5°C, while the maximum is expected to hover between 34°C and 36°C.

Humidity levels currently stand at 65 percent, while sea breezes are blowing at a speed of 18 km/h, slightly offsetting the heat.
Officials advise citizens to avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, remain hydrated, and keep track of weather advisories in the coming days.
Healthcare authorities are also likely to issue heatwave alerts and take preventive measures for public safety, especially for children, the elderly, and outdoor workers.
The forecast of both high temperatures and an active monsoon raises concerns of extreme weather patterns continuing in the region this year.
