US policy to recognize only two genders that are ‘not changeable’

US two genders policy

Following taking oath as 47th President of US, Donald Trump signed an executive order mandating that the U.S. government will only recognize two genders: male and female.

This decision reverses initiatives by the Biden administration to include broader gender identity options, such as the “X” gender marker on passports.

The executive order, titled “Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government,” asserts that gender is fixed and biologically determined, calling it “incontrovertible reality.”

The order will require all official U.S. documents, including passports and visas, to reflect the individual’s biological sex.

Government agencies will also be directed to maintain single-sex spaces in areas such as federal prisons and migrant shelters, ensuring privacy and protection.

Under the new directive, the term “gender” will be replaced with “sex” in federal communication, and the promotion of gender ideology through government messaging and materials will cease.

The order also mandates reviewing federal grants and contracts to prevent federal funds from supporting gender ideology.

This executive order reversed several policies during the Biden administration, including introducing the “X” gender marker on U.S. passports in 2022, which allowed individuals to select a non-binary option without medical documentation.

The State Department had also made it easier for Americans to update their gender on official documents without requiring medical proof.

With the new order, the U.S. government will no longer offer the “X” designation, returning to a policy that only recognizes males and females as official gender categories.

The executive order also affects Social Security records and employee documentation, which will now align with the new sex designation policy.
