The six franchises in the HBL PSL have revealed their player retentions ahead of the 2025 Players Draft, scheduled for January 11.

Each franchise could retain up to eight players from their previous squad. Three teams – Karachi Kings, Multan Sultans, and Peshawar Zalmi – retained seven players each, while the others used the full retention limit.

Defending champions Islamabad United retained captain Shadab Khan and fast bowler Naseem Shah in the Platinum category with other key retentions include Imad Wasim and Azam Khan in Diamond, and Colin Munro and Rumman Raees in Silver.

Multan Sultans, the 2021 champions and last season’s runners-up, kept captain Mohammad Rizwan and leg-spinner Usama Mir in Platinum, while David Willey, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Usman Khan were retained in Diamond. England’s Chris Jordan and wrist-spinner Faisal Akram were retained in Gold and Silver, respectively.

Peshawar Zalmi, led by Babar Azam, kept their skipper and Saim Ayub in Platinum. Mohammad Haris is retained in Diamond, with Arif Yaqoob, Mehran Mumtaz, and Sufyan Moqim in Silver. Ali Raza, who impressed by his performance in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, was also retained in the Emerging category.

Quetta Gladiators retained Rilee Rossouw, Abrar Ahmed, and Mohammad Amir in Diamond, with Akeal Hosein, Saud Shakeel, and Mohammad Wasim Jnr in Gold. Khawaja Mohammad Nafay and Usman Tariq are in Silver, Amir will also be the mentor of the side.

Karachi Kings kept Hasan Ali, James Vince, and Muhammad Irfan Khan in Diamond and Gold, while Arafat Minhas was named the brand ambassador. Tim Seifert and Zahid Mehmood were retained in Silver.

Lahore Qalandars retained Shaheen Shah Afridi and Fakhar Zaman in Platinum, with Haris Rauf and Sikandar Raza in Diamond. Abdullah Shafique, Jahandad Khan, and Zaman Khan are in Gold, and David Wiese is in Silver.

The HBL PSL 2025 draft will see Lahore Qalandars make the first Platinum pick, followed by Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators in the second and third rounds.
