Water tankers, dumpers crushes four citizens to death in Karachi

In a series of tragic accidents involving water tankers and dumpers, four people, including a policeman and a young girl, lost their lives in Karachi.

According to the Geo News report, the collisions occurred in different locations across the city which itself is evident of reckless driving by heavy vehicles.

A six-year-old girl was struck and killed by a water tanker in Korangi No. 6, and another individual died in a similar incident at Korangi’s Singer Chowrangi.

In North Karachi, a policeman tragically lost his life in a collision with a water tanker, while another person was killed in a separate incident involving a dumper near Port Qasim.

Following the accidents at Korangi No. 6 and Singer Chowrangi, police managed to seize the water tankers involved, while the drivers managed to fled the scene.

Similarly, in the Port Qasim incident, authorities have detained the dumper, but the driver remains at large.

Last week, the Times of Karachi reported the alarming rise in traffic accidents that claimed 598 lives across Karachi this year, citing rescue authorities.

According to a local news channel, the rescue officials revealed that around 6,428 individuals have sustained injuries in traffic accidents in Karachi.

The rescue authorities stated that mostly motorcyclists are involved in these accidents, with many lives also lost due to speeding dumpers and water tankers.

Within just 24 hours, the city witnessed three separate incidents involving high-speed dumpers and trailers.

In one tragic case, a container from the trailer fell onto a motorcycle on Sher Shah Bridge, resulting in his death.

Additionally, two children were injured after being hit by a truck in Memon Goth, while a high-speed trailer struck multiple vehicles on Karachi’s Site Super Highway.

The rising toll calls for urgent attention to improve traffic regulations and safety measures to prevent further loss of life on roads in the city of lights.
