The Sindh Local Government Minister, Nasir Hussain Shah, has revealed that the Sindh Premier League will commence on September 19. This exciting cricket tournament organized by the Sindh government aims to provide a platform for emerging talent from Sindh and contribute to the development of cricket in Pakistan.
Six teams will participate in the Sindh Premier League, representing different cities and regions within Sindh. The league is set to showcase the immense cricketing potential present in the province and provide a pathway for talented players to showcase their skills and potentially represent Pakistan in the future.
During the signing ceremony held at the Sindh Assembly hall, the team named “Benazirabad Lal” sealed an agreement with the sponsor organization. It was also announced that the legendary cricketer Shahid Afridi will be part of the Benazirabad Lal team and serve as the brand ambassador for the league. Additionally, former Test cricketer Abdul Razzaq will act as the mentor for the league.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Nasir Hussain emphasized the importance of nurturing local talent through the Sindh Premier League. He expressed his confidence that this initiative would uncover hidden cricketing gems from Sindh and contribute to the overall development of the sport. Minister Hussain reiterated that players emerging from the Sindh Premier League would represent Pakistan on the international stage, highlighting the league’s goal of promoting the country’s name globally.
Shahid Afridi, present at the event, expressed his delight at being appointed as the brand ambassador for the Sindh Premier League. He believed that the league would play a crucial role in showcasing the cricketing talent present in Sindh. Afridi also suggested organizing a similar league in Balochistan to provide a platform for talent from that region as well.
The Sindh Premier League, under the supervision of the Sindh government, will feature six participating teams. One of the teams, Hyderabad Bahadur, will have Misbah-ul-Haq as the head coach and Shoaib Malik as the icon player, adding further excitement to the tournament.
