Asia Cup 2023: Exciting lineup and schedule revealed

 

 

The much-awaited Asia Cup 2023 is set to kick off today with the opening match between hosts Pakistan and Nepal. The event will commence with a brief ceremony featuring performances by Pakistani singer Aima Baig and Nepali singer Trishala Goring.

The participating teams are divided into two groups for the tournament, with a total of 6 teams in the competition. Group A includes host Pakistan, arch-rivals India, and Nepal, while Group B features defending champions Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. It’s worth noting that Nepal is making its debut in the Asia Cup this year.

The Asia Cup schedule is structured into two phases. During the first group stage matches, two teams from each group will qualify for the Super Four round. Subsequently, the four qualified teams will compete in the Super Four stage, leading up to the final match between the top two teams.

Here’s a glimpse of the initial matches in the Asia Cup schedule:

  • Match 1: August 30, 2023 – Pakistan vs Nepal at Multan
  • Match 2: August 31, 2023 – Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh at Pali Kale
  • Match 3: September 2, 2023 – Pakistan vs India at Pali Kale
  • Match 4: September 3, 2023 – Afghanistan vs Bangladesh at Lahore
  • Match 5: September 4, 2023 – India vs Nepal at Lahore
  • Match 6: September 5, 2023 – Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka at Lahore

Following the group stage, the Super Four stage matches will take place from September 6 to September 15. The final showdown is scheduled for September 17. The Super Four matches on September 6 will be held in Lahore, while the rest will be played in Colombo, Sri Lanka’s capital.

All matches in the Asia Cup, whether in Pakistan or Sri Lanka, will commence at 2:30 pm Pakistani time, with the toss taking place at 2 pm.

Viewers can catch the Asia Cup action on various TV channels and live streaming platforms. In Pakistan, PTV Sports and Ten Sports will telecast the matches. Live streaming will be available on Tapmad and the Tamasha app, requiring a subscription for TapMead while being free on the Tamasha app.
