This will mark Australia’s first visit to Pakistan for a 50-over series since 2022, making it a highly anticipated contest for cricket fans across the country.

Recent Form and Context

Pakistan enter the series on the back of two successive ODI series victories against Australia. The Green Shirts won 2–1 in Australia in 2024 under Mohammad Rizwan and previously claimed a 2–1 series victory at home in 2021 under Babar Azam. Australia will be eager to settle the score on Pakistani soil.

Pakistan’s squad sees several notable returns, with Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, Shadab Khan and Sufiyan Muqeem all recalled to the ODI setup after being absent from the Bangladesh series in March.

The squad also features three uncapped ODI players in Ahmed Daniyal, Arafat Minhas and Rohail Nazir, reflecting the selectors’ intent to continue broadening the player pool ahead of the ODI World Cup 2027.

Pakistan will, however, be without injured opening batters Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub, both of whom continue their rehabilitation under the supervision of the PCB medical panel.

Wicketkeeper-batter Usman Khan was also not considered for selection due to illness.

Left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi will continue to lead the side, with Salman Ali Agha serving as vice-captain.

Head-to-Head Record

Pakistan and Australia have faced each other in 111 ODIs to date. Australia have dominated the overall rivalry, winning 71 matches compared to Pakistan’s 36, with one match ending in a tie and three games ending without a result.
