The city administration in Karachi has disclosed that approximately 1.25 Lac Afghan nationals are still residing illegally in the city, as reported by ARY News on Saturday. Commissioner Karachi Saleem Rajput has announced that those unlawfully settled in the city will be legally repatriated to their countries if they fail to leave by October 31.
Rajput stated that 18,000 illegal immigrants have already been repatriated from the metropolis, and a designated holding point will be established where deputy commissioners and security institutions will manage illegal immigrants. These individuals will be handed over to security officials at the Jacobabad and Chaman borders. A convoy of five buses, escorted by security, will be dispatched from Karachi for this purpose.
“People illegally staying will not be allowed in the country after November 1st,” reiterated Commissioner Karachi Saleem Rajput. The city’s police have been mobilized to facilitate the repatriation of illegally staying immigrants.
In accordance with the Commissioner’s instructions, mosques in Afghan settlements and relevant areas are making announcements via loudspeakers about the repatriation of illegal immigrants. Saddar Police in District South has initiated a campaign, warning citizens against offering houses, flats, and shops to individuals staying illegally in the city, emphasizing that it is a legal offense.
The police have further cautioned that a crackdown on illegal foreign immigrants will commence from November 1. These measures underscore the authorities’ commitment to addressing the issue of illegal immigration and ensuring the legal and secure repatriation of those who are unlawfully residing in Karachi.
