Sindh government to deploy boy scouts for election duty on February 8

In preparation for the upcoming elections on February 8, the Sindh government has decided to deploy Boy Scouts for election duty. The Sindh home ministry has communicated a request to the Sindh Boy Scouts Association, seeking their assistance in providing volunteers for duties outside sensitive and highly sensitive polling stations. The deployment plan includes utilizing 300 scouts for CCTV monitoring and deploying 400 scouts at polling stations in the West district of Karachi.

  1. Deployment Request:

    • The Sindh home ministry has written to the Sindh Boy Scouts Association, requesting the provision of 700 scouts for election duties on February 8.
  2. Duty Locations:

    • Scouts are intended to be deployed outside sensitive and highly sensitive polling stations in Thatta, West, and South districts of Karachi.
  3. Allocation of Scouts:

    • Out of the 700 scouts requested, 300 will be utilized for CCTV monitoring during the elections.
    • The remaining 400 scouts will be deployed at polling stations in the West district of Karachi.
  4. Election Security Arrangements:

    • Earlier in the day, Sindh Police informed the Election Commission about election security arrangements, estimating an expense of over 625.4 million for security measures.
    • The police have suggested the deployment of 122,000 personnel for election security in Sindh, with the province currently having 105,000 available policemen.
  5. Polling Stations and Security Personnel:

    • A total of 19,004 polling stations will be established for the election in Sindh.
    • The plan suggests deploying four policemen for every normal polling station, six personnel for sensitive stations, and eight police officials for extremely sensitive stations.

As the election date approaches, the Sindh government is actively working on ensuring the security and smooth conduct of the electoral process by involving Boy Scouts for various duties and implementing comprehensive security arrangements.
