90-year-old public school in Soldier Bazar being shut down

A 90-year-old government school in Karachi, ‘Juffal Hearst’, is being vacated after a private party won a court case for its vacation.

School teachers say that the government school which is the only one in a 5,000 square km area caters to more than 700 students. They say that it is the only government school in Soldiers Bazar.

In this regard, school teachers and students have appealed to the Minister of Education to save the school and have also protested against the school being evacuated.

According to sources within the school, the lack of interest in the court case by the education ministry is the cause for the school administration losing the case in court, the private party which won the case and is now pressing to vacate the school.
