The holy month of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is observed by Muslims worldwide through fasting, prayer and religious devotion.

Since the Islamic calendar follows the lunar cycle, Ramadan moves approximately 10 to 12 days earlier each year in the Gregorian calendar.

According to current estimates, the first day of fasting in Pakistan could fall on Monday, February 8, or Tuesday, February 9, 2027. The final date will depend on the crescent moon sighting and the official announcement by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

When Will Ramadan 2027 Begin in Pakistan?

The new moon marking the beginning of Ramadan 1448 AH is expected to occur on February 6, 2027. However, the birth of the new moon does not necessarily mean that the crescent will be visible immediately.

Preliminary estimates suggest that the Ramadan crescent may be sighted on the evening of February 7 or February 8.

If the crescent is sighted on February 7, the first fast could be observed on February 8. If it is not sighted and the month of Shaban completes 30 days, Ramadan could begin on February 9.

The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will make the official announcement after receiving and verifying reports of the crescent moon sighting.

Expected End Date of Ramadan 2027

Ramadan is expected to last either 29 or 30 days, depending on the sighting of the Shawwal crescent.

Based on preliminary forecasts, the last fast could fall around March 8 or 9, 2027. Eid-ul-Fitr is tentatively expected between March 9 and 11.

The dates remain provisional and may change following the official moon-sighting announcement.

Will Ramadan 2027 Bring Extended Eid Holidays?

The expected Eid-ul-Fitr dates have also raised interest in the possibility of an extended public holiday period across Pakistan.

However, the federal government has not announced the official Eid-ul-Fitr holiday schedule for 2027. Any extended break would depend on the final date of Eid and the government’s holiday notification.

Ramadan 2027 is expected to fall during February and March, with fasting hours generally shorter than during the summer months.
