188 vehicles and 2,500 phones stolen in March, says CPLC

Karachi, the largest city in Pakistan, continues to face significant challenges in maintaining law and order as street crime remains on the rise.
According to the data provided by the Citizens Police Liaison Committee, the law-and-order situation in the city of Karachi remains concerning, with a significant rise in street crime. In March alone, a total of 188 vehicles, comprising of 174 cars and 14 snatched vehicles, along with 5,057 motorcycles were reported stolen from various areas of the city. Furthermore, 2,577 mobile phones were snatched from citizens during incidents of street crime in the same month.

 

The situation is even more alarming when taking into account the number of homicides reported during the month, with a total of 47 cases. These figures paint a grim picture of the safety situation in the city.

 

The first quarter of 2023 has also been marked with a rise in street crime, with a total of 14,080 motorcycles and 593 cars reported stolen. Moreover, 7,211 mobile phones were reported stolen from citizens during incidents of street crime in this same period. It is clear that the city is facing significant challenges in maintaining the safety and security of its citizens.
