On the occasion, he set a target for Gulberg Town to issue Taleem Cards to 10,000 students in the new academic year, stressing that providing children with education in modern technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) was essential in today’s world.
Addressing the ceremony, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman said that he had promised the public that if Jamaat-e-Islami’s mayor came to power, the party would deliver beyond its official authority.

He said that Jamaat-e-Islami’s town chairmen in Karachi were demonstrating through their work that much could be achieved even beyond the powers formally granted to local governments.
He said that children must be equipped with modern technological skills, including AI. Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman directed Gulberg Town to issue Taleem Cards to 10,000 students in the upcoming academic year so that educational assistance could reach a greater number of children.
Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, Monem Zafar Khan, said that the governments of Sindh and Punjab had handed over more than 11,000 government schools to NGOs, while Gulberg Town was working to rehabilitate public schools and improve their learning environments despite limited resources. He said that, rather than handing over schools to NGOs, Gulberg Town was undertaking their rehabilitation itself.
He emphasised that improving public educational institutions and providing quality educational facilities to children were fundamental responsibilities of the government. Empowering local governments, he added, could enable them to play a more effective role in addressing basic civic issues, including education.
Chairman Gulberg Town Nusrat Ullah said that, in line with the vision of Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, Gulberg Town was working to improve education, healthcare and municipal services. The rehabilitation of Government Abu Turab School was an important part of these efforts, providing students with a better learning environment.

He said the Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan Tech Space had been established to provide children with opportunities to learn and receive training in modern technology, computers and Artificial Intelligence. The initiative aims to ensure that students attending government schools can also develop the skills needed to meet the demands of the modern world.

Sharing details of the Gulberg Transformation Programme, Nusrat Ullah said that approximately 2.3 million square feet of roads were being constructed and rehabilitated across Blocks 17, 18, 19 and 20. The project covers 70 roads and 300 internal streets.
He explained that the installation of new Sui gas pipelines had damaged roads across these four blocks, making their rehabilitation necessary to improve residents’ mobility and everyday convenience.
He added that funds had previously been allocated for road restoration following excavation works, but residents often saw little visible progress. Under the current programme, road and street rehabilitation work was becoming visible across the area, with the aim of delivering direct relief to residents.
Nusrat Ullah said that the Gulberg Transformation Programme was not merely about constructing roads; it was intended to provide better routes for residents and restore the area’s essential infrastructure.

He further stated that available resources were being utilised effectively to improve education, healthcare and civic facilities. The rehabilitation of Abu Turab School, establishment of the Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan Tech Space and large-scale construction and rehabilitation of roads and streets reflected a commitment to prioritising public needs and taking practical steps despite limited resources.
The ceremony was attended by Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Monem Zafar Khan, Chairman Gulberg Town Nusrat Ullah, Vice Chairman Muhammad Ilyas, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami District Gulberg Kamran Siraj, former Town Nazim Farooq Naimatullah, Municipal Commissioner Hameer Ahmed, and other officials and distinguished guests.
