The deceased were identified as Shahzaib, his wife Saba, his sister Shumaila, and his two young daughters, Aizal and Arya. Their bodies were discovered at a house in a private housing society in the Bin Qasim area of Karachi during the night between Monday and Tuesday.

Dr Summaiya said the available findings had not established whether the deaths resulted from murder or suicide. Investigators are awaiting further forensic and investigative reports to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police Surgeon Shares Postmortem Findings

According to Dr Summaiya, Shahzaib, approximately 35, and his wife Saba, aged between 28 and 30, each sustained a gunshot wound to the head.

Samples have been collected from both victims for gunshot residue (GSR) testing, chemical analysis and DNA profiling as part of the investigation.

The findings are expected to assist investigators in examining the circumstances of the deaths. However, the available information does not establish how the gunshot wounds were inflicted or who was responsible.

Causes of Death of Three Family Members Reserved

The police surgeon said the causes of death of the other three family members had been reserved until the relevant reports were received.

Shumaila, Shahzaib’s sister, was aged between 20 and 22, while his daughters, Aizal and Arya, were approximately five and three years old, respectively.

Samples for chemical analysis, serology and DNA testing have also been collected from the three victims.

The results of these examinations are expected to help establish their causes of death and provide further information to investigators.

Police Await Forensic Reports

Dr Summaiya said the available findings were insufficient to determine whether the five deaths were the result of murder or suicide.

The investigation remains ongoing, and, according to the information provided, a case had not been registered at the time of the statement.

Police are expected to assess the forensic findings alongside other evidence gathered from the scene before drawing conclusions about what happened.

Handwritten Note Mentions Financial Difficulties

Police reportedly recovered a handwritten note from the house referring to the family’s financial difficulties and strained relationships with relatives.

According to reports about the note, Shahzaib had expressed concern that he had not received support from relatives during a difficult period.

The contents of the note may form part of the investigation, but they do not independently establish the circumstances or causes of the deaths.

Authorities have yet to determine the sequence of events that led to the deaths of the five family members. The findings of forensic examinations and the wider investigation will be important in establishing the facts.
