The judicial commission investigating the Mir Raza case has adjourned its proceedings until October 2, as the commission awaits a final decision from the Sindh Cabinet on a request to extend its term.

The commission, headed by Sindh High Court Justice Omar Sial, issued a written order regarding Monday’s proceedings.
According to the written order, the commission’s existing term expired on Sunday, while a request for an extension had already been submitted to the Sindh government.
Members of Mir Raza Ali’s family, including Mir Hussain Ali Khan, Maryam Hussain and Alishba Khan, appeared before the commission.
Javed Ahmed Abro, Additional Secretary and focal person of the Sindh Home Department, also attended the proceedings.
DSP Siraj Lashari and Kashif Iftikhar, Assistant Chief of Operations at the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), were also present.
The Home Department’s focal person informed the commission that the Sindh Chief Minister had approved the extension request, but the summary had subsequently been forwarded to the Sindh Cabinet for a final decision.
According to the written order, the Sindh Cabinet meeting is expected to take place on October 1, 2026.
Justice Omar Sial observed that adjourning the proceedings until October 2 would therefore be appropriate.
The commission said that if the Sindh Cabinet decides not to extend its term, no further witnesses will be summoned and the commission will prepare its report based on the statements and evidence recorded so far.
If the cabinet approves the extension, the commission will issue fresh notices to witnesses, according to the order.
The proceedings have therefore been adjourned until 10:00am on October 2.
Earlier to this, the judicial commission probing the Mir Raza Ali case has rejected a request from his family to summon senior police officers for personal appearance before the commission.
The commission, headed by Sindh High Court (SHC) Justice Omar Sial, issued a written order regarding the proceedings held the previous day.
Background of the Mir Raza Case
Mir Raza Ali, a 25-year-old businessman and IBA graduate, went missing on July 28, 2026. His body was recovered the following day from Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Karachi, with a gunshot wound.
Raza’s family maintained that he had been abducted and murdered, while the initial police investigation reportedly considered the possibility of suicide, leading to controversy surrounding the case.
At the request of his family, a court ordered his exhumation and a second post-mortem examination.
The subsequent medical report concluded that the gunshot entered from the back and exited through the front, with the findings described as inconsistent with suicide.
A judicial commission headed by Justice Omar Sial is examining the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza Ali’s death and allegations of negligence or shortcomings in the investigation.
The commission has questioned witnesses, police officials, medical personnel and individuals associated with Mir Raza’s business activities as part of its proceedings.
