Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah inaugurated 49 digital classrooms at 37 Special Education and Rehabilitation Centres, 20 satellite schools, and a sign-language teacher training programme to improve educational opportunities for children with disabilities across Sindh.

The initiative, launched by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD) in collaboration with Deaf Reach and the Family Educational Services Foundation (FESF), will benefit around 754 students with hearing disabilities through digital classrooms and approximately 476 children through satellite schools.
The Chief Minister said the initiative would bring smart boards, e-learning resources and technology-enabled education closer to children in remote and underserved areas. He also stressed the importance of trained teachers and promoting Pakistan Sign Language in inclusive education.
The Sindh government currently supports around 20,000 students in 67 special education institutions, providing free rehabilitation, physiotherapy, speech therapy, transportation, nutritious meals and a Rs3,000 monthly stipend.
DEPD Secretary Taha Ahmed Farooqui said around 810 children are currently awaiting admission, highlighting the growing demand for specialised education services.
He said DEPD, with support from the Sindh government and 140 partner organisations, continues to expand educational and rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities.
